You walk around in your genuine leather boots with your genuine leather jacket carrying your genuine leather purse walking your dog with a genuine leather leash. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but your genuine leather is super cheap and low grade.

I'm always fascinated by marketing terms. "Proceeds go to charity." If you don't know the number or percentage, they could be donating a penny for every million dollars donated. "Made with real white chicken breast." That's fine, but if it's made with chicken, what else is it made with? Anything that's "chocolate-flavored" has to be listed as there's not enough quality ingredients to make it actual chocolate. In fact, chances are your favorite "ice cream" bar is listed as a 'frozen confection' as it's made with vegetable oils and not actual dairy to make it 'ice cream'.

This topic came up recently with items labeled as genuine leather. Yes, it is leather, but genuine leather is the term used for the lowest-grade of leather legally allowed to be considered leather. It's the 'minimum wage' of leathers.

Goods marked as genuine leather will be several layers of low-quality leather bonded together with glue and then painted to look uniform.

I mean, at least it's real leather so nobody can fault anyone for that. They're not lying, but there are different grades of leather just like there are different grades of just about everything.

If you're looking for quality leather, Top-Grain is good, but Full-Grain is the best. You'll be paying a premium, but it won't tear or rip or deteriorate as fast as your genuine leather belt.
