Operating the Yakima Union Gospel Mission is always a challenge when it comes to funding. But the mission Executive Director Mike Johnson says it's especially a challenge during the holidays and winter months. Thanksgiving is right around the corner and Johnson says the mission is expecting more than 600 people to spend the holiday at the mission in Yakima this year. A news release from the mission says sadly many of these folks have no family… no friends… no one to celebrate the season with. Others are still struggling to recover after unexpectedly losing their jobs during the COVID-19 crisis. The mission is looking for some financial help. It costs $2.07 to cover a meal at the mission. $50 will provide 24 meals and care. $100 will provide 48 meals and care. The mission is asking for help in emails, mailers and flyers at local grocery stores. Check them out on the web at yugm.org.
