Yakima Police are investigating another gang related shooting. Authorities say a 17-year-old was shot three times Monday at the intersection of 16th Avenue and Fruitvale Blvd. Capt. Jay Seely says the teen was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his mother when a green vehicle drove up and someone started firing shots. The shooting was reported at about 12:25 p.m. The 17-year-old was shot three times and was first taken to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. He was then transferred in critical condition to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for further treatment. His mother was not injured. An article in the Yakima Herald Republic says bullets hit a nearby taco stand where people were eating lunch. The suspect vehicle fled the area. Officers are now working with area businesses to gain security camera footage hoping to get more information that could lead to an arrest.

Four drive-by shootings have been reported in Yakima in the last two weeks.

Yakima Police say a fatal shooting last Thursday on Cornell Avenue was gang related. The investigation continues Today. The shooting resulted in one man being killed and a woman being injured.

Officers were called to the 1100 block of Cornell Avenue at about 6:30 p.m. last Thursday. When they arrived they found a man fatally shot in the drivers seat of a black Impala in front of a home. The man was shot in the throat and died at the scene. The man's 26-year-old wife was also injured and is expected to recover at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

Prosecutors continue building a case this week against a 19-year-old suspect arrested for shooting Jonathan Spear who was working in his yard in Yakima June 6. Jose Ortega is being held in the Yakima County jail on charges of first degree assault and drive-by shooting. Bail has been set at $750, 000.

Another 22 year old man, accused as the driver in the drive by shooting is also being held in jail. Gabriel Farias is charged with rendering criminal assistance. His bail is set at $25,000.

The victim, Jonathan Spear continues to recover at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was shot while working in his yard on West Chestnut Avenue when the drive by shooting happaned and he was shot three times. One of the bullets hit his spine. Family members say he may never be able to walk again.
