Wu-Tang Clan’s ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’ Album to Be Remade With Nine Current Artists
Wu-Tang Clan is celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut studio album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), and Loud Records has a special gift coming for their die-hard fans. This week (May 9), XXL spoke with Loud Records founder Steve Rifkind, who revealed that a remake of the project is in the works, and it will feature nine current artists.
Rifkind told us that nine MCs from today will help to remake the album and each will play a character from the original 36 Chambers.
"With Wu-Tang, we're gonna do a few things," he explained. "We're gonna remake the album with nine MCs from today and each new MC will play a character in the original 36 Chambers. There's gonna be a major tour cause it's also Wu's 25[th anniversary]."
So far, there's no confirmation on which MCs will be working on the album remake, but we can only guess that they will be rappers that are fans of the veteran hip-hop group and that each Wu-Tang member supports themselves.
Along with Enter the Wu-Tang, Rifkind also mentioned that he is working with Fat Joe on how to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Big Pun's Capital Punishment, which dropped on April 28, 1998.
"And then with Pun, I'm actually on my way to see Joe and sit down to discuss what's happening for this year for the 20th anniversary of Capital Punishment," he revealed.
We'll have to wait and see who is chosen for the remake of 36 Chambers, but for now, we can look forward to honoring the original anniversary on Nov. 9.
