The Memorial Day holiday is gone, but that doesn't mean the Yakima Valley is taking this weekend off -- it's graduation season, baseball season and summer's ready to bust out everywhere!

    Yakima Valley Pippins home opener

    7:05 p.m. Friday, June 2, at State Fair Park

    The Pippins launch their season with a home stand against the Victoria HarbourCats

    The home nine will host a three-game series with the visiting Canadian team, playing 7:05 games on Friday and Saturday and a 5:05 start on Sunday in "The Orchard."

    One of many graduations taking place around the valley

    Come celebrate one of the numerous Yakima Valley graduations as the Class of 2017 receives their diplomas in the Yakima Valley SunDome.

    Junior Gap2Gap Relay

    June 3, Sarg Hubbard Park

    First race starts at 8:15 a.m.

    Kids ages 7-14 will run, bicycle, run the steeplechase, kayak and complete an obstacle course -- and this year, it's Hawaiian style!

    (Preregistration required.)

    Be sure to catch the Rock the Gap celebration afterward, featuring The Shreds! Party starts at 5:30 in the park.

    First race starts at 9 a.m.

    Athletes 14 and older will compete in trail running, road biking, off-road biking, boating and running events.

    Third Annual Carnival at Hop Nation

    June 2 at Hop Nation, 31 N. First Ave.

    $4 beers all night, donations accepted

    Local good trucks will haul in the eats, Pastel Motel provides the music and Lasersmith Light Show Systems LLC turns on the visuals. Costumes are encouraged for what's becoming one of Yakima's favorite parties. Fun includes hula hooping, comedy, magic, belly dancing, fire dancers ... and the Wreckless Freeks' freak show!

    Yoga in the Lawn at Bron Yr Aur Brewery

    6-7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3

    Stretch out, then chill out with a pint

    Sara Washburn, E-RYT, leads a Vinyasa class, open to all skill levels, the first Friday of each month throughout the summer. Bring your own mat and a $20 donation, then cash in the coupon you'll get on a relaxing pint of beer after class. Donations go toward Just Breathe yoga training scholarships. The brewery is at 12160 U.S. Highway 12 in Naches.

    Dino-N-A-Day in Granger

    9 a.m. Saturday, June 3

    They're building a Megalosaurus!

    Come help construct Granger's newest statue during the annual Dino-N-A-Day at Hisey Park, Main Street and Highway 223. This will be the town's 34 dinosaur statue. Others stand vigil in parks and at the entrance to the city. They'll provide the gloves, you provide the work -- call the city at (509) 854-1725 for details.
