The daughters of late rocker Tom Petty are suing his widow for allegedly mismanaging the singer’s estate.

According to court documents, Adria and Annakim Petty believe their former stepmother, Dana, has cost them more than $5 million.

Following Tom Petty’s death in 2017, the company Petty Unlimited was set up to manage the rocker’s affairs. As reported by The Blast, Petty Unlimited claims that Dana and others have withheld certain assets and diverted them to another company she set up called Tom Petty Legacy LLC.

Central to the conflict is the interpretation of Tom's final wishes. According to Variety, Dana was named as trustee, with each of the rocker's daughters entitled to “equal participation” in decisions. Adria and Annakim have interpreted this to mean that they get two votes out of three, giving them majority control. Dana sees things differently.

This is not the first time the women have butted heads. Just last month, a legal battle between the two parties blocked the release of a Wildflowers boxed set that had been planned to celebrate the album’s 25th anniversary.

Dana previously accused the sisters of ganging up on her in an attempt to wrestle control of the estate. In documents filed in April, the widow claimed the daughters "repeatedly demonstrated their resentment" toward her, while singling out Adria for “erratic behavior" that "made it exceedingly — and increasingly — difficult to carry on business."

In response to the latest lawsuit issued by Adria and Annakim, Dana’s attorney released a statement saying, “This misguided and meritless lawsuit sadly demonstrates exactly why Tom Petty designated his wife to be the sole trustee with authority to manage his estate. Dana will not allow destructive nonsense like this to distract her from protecting her husband’s legacy.”
