They Out Here Slandering Tevin Campbell’s Name In These Twitter Streets
Since the passing of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, there has been talk of which artists will/should be asked to perform at her tribute in November at Madison Square Garden.
Tevin Campbell's 1992 song, "Can We Talk" (produced by Babyface), is one of my all-time favorite songs, so when you come for Tevin, you're coming for the wrong one, hun. Even Prince knew Tevin had talent, and booked him for a song on his Graffiti Bridge movie soundtrack in 1990.
If you are not aware of who "Awesome Luvvie" is (and I would not blame you one bit), she is a comedian of sorts. She writes blogs about pop culture. She has a Facebook page. She has a book. Don't get me wrong; the chick is very successful. She even has an alleged tv production deal with Shonda Rhimes.
I actually used to be a huge fan of hers and once contemplated going to her book signing in Seattle a few years back. That was before one day (a couple of years ago), she unfortunately said something so crusty that I was in shock and decided that I couldn't be a fan of hers any longer. It hurt my heart that day when I clicked the "Unfollow" button on Facebook, but I tell you what, I have rarely looked back.
The "unfollowing" episode was so long ago that I honestly don't even remember what it was she had said that rubbed me the wrong way, all I know is that in my book, she has been officially "cancelled".
I have told you all of the above to help you understand my disdain when I saw the Luvvie's tweet. All I could do is roll my eyes and shake my "H".
It seems that I wasn't the only one who saw her tweet and said, "Ain't nobody got time for that."
She really tried it.
