The Red Sand Project Event Went Very Well Saturday — Raising Awarness About Human Trafficking
It still blows my mind that there is such thing as human trafficking in the first place. I just cannot figure out why someone would want to hurt another person -- let alone a sweet, innocent little kid. I mean, did the person say "Hey, when I grow up I am going to sell other people?" That might be the worst thing that could ever happen -- selling someone. Well, the threat is real and it is realer than you think right here in our own valley. That's the message behind the Red Sand Project.
The lady who started the project was stolen when she was 5 years old and was human trafficked until she was 20, when she finally escaped.
Saturday, the organization held an awareness-raising Take a Stand and Pour the Sand event in Yakima.
I'm glad I went. It's a great project that's battling a serious and horrifying global -- and local -- problem.
