Now Ross says they're preparing for the next big date, May 16. That's the day candidate filing week opens in Washington State.

Auditor Charles Ross says if you want to participate now is the time to get signed up to vote!

The official turnout from Tuesday was 18.02% or 22,946 ballots returned. In the city of Yakima council seats were open in Districts 2, 4 and 6.

KIT Candidate interviews continue next Tuesday and Wednesday with interviews with candidates on the Yakima School District Board of Directors.

Traditionally the turnout is low for a primary election.
