Yakima Health District officials say a COVID-19 testing site at the Sunnyside Community Center has detected a high percentage of positive cases in the county. A news release says in the just the first week of testing the site performed 561 tests with 21.6% being positive COVID-19 tests. Health officials say they know there's a high level of community spread happening in the county. Dr. Larry Jecha, Interim Health Officer in Yakima says they strong urge everyone to get tested if they have symptoms or suspect they may have COVID-19.
The free testing site is open Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm except on Tuesdays, when it opens from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. The site will be closed on Christmas Eve, December 24, but will provide testing on December 26 from 9:00 a.m.  to 3:00 p.m.
