With a six point lead and just three minutes to play on their home court last Tuesday - the final day of April -  it appeared that the Yakima SunKings had all but sewn up their second straight championship. That was last month already and it feels like a lifetime ago considering what developed since, most obvious, the dismissal of head coach Paul Woolpert.

The Albany Patroons staved off elimination and won an overtime game two in the best-of-three series for supremacy in The Basketball League and lead virtually wire-to-wire today in capturing the title by a final score of  124-114. Albany shot out the lights in the third quarter opening up leads as large as 18 points. Yakima, valiantly, cut the score down to as few as 6 in the final period before eventually succumbing.
