It's almost time to Spring into Downtown. That's actually the name of the event. The Downtown Association of Yakima is holding what's being called "Spring into Downtown." Association officials say the Small Business Saturday events that have happened in the fall have been so successful they've decided to hold a similar event on May 15. They say they want to see downtown buzzing with people and excitement.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 47 businesses in the downtown area will be involved in the event.
Downtown Association of Yakima Executive Director, Andrew Holt says “When we surveyed the participating businesses from our fall event, they told us that they were very satisfied with it. The only thing they requested was, to do it more often. So, we decided to do the spring event.” Holt adds, “This event achieves a lot of goals: bringing people to downtown for a fun day, having them experience the charm of downtown businesses for the first time, or for the first time in a long time, turning cash registers and boosting morale after the hardships of the pandemic.”
A press release from the Downtown Association of Yakima says;

"Shoppers will have their passports stamped at participating businesses (they do not have to purchase to have their passport stamped, but to be entered into the drawing for Downtown Yakima gift baskets, the passport must have 5 stamps from 5 different individual businesses and at least one proof of purchase). All the completed passports will be entered into a drawing to win one of six gift baskets full of gift cards and merchandise from participating businesses and a Grand Prize Basket.

· participating businesses will have special promotions and sales just for this event.

· shoppers will receive a complimentary Shop Small shopping tote with a purchase.
