Seattle Seahawks fans, also known, simply, as the "12s", have always prided themselves on being one of the most vocal and loyal fan bases in the country and across the entire National Football League. That passion was validated this past weekend during the annual "NFL Honors" ceremony when 89 year-old Patti Hammond, known better to Seahawks fans as "Mama Blue" finished as the runner-up for the league's first-ever "Fan of the Year" award prior to Super Bowl LV (55).

The award, according to the NFL's website: "For the first time ever, the NFL launched the Fan of the Year contest to shine a light on extraordinary fans who have been a rallying force of their family, friends and/or community and inspire others through their love of football. After nearly 35,000 submissions, we are proud to shine a light on our inaugural Fan of the Year nominees."

The eventual winner of the inaugural award was Tennessee Titans super-fan Brandon Galloway. Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson was also honored as the Walter Payton "Man of the Year" during the ceremony as well.
