Rachel McAdams is being praised online after she was photographed wearing a breast pump for the cover of Girls. Girls. Girls. Magazine.

The photos show McAdams, who welcomed her first child about six months prior to the shoot, sporting a pump while wearing a couture outfit. Girls. Girls. GirlsMagazine founder Claire Rothstein offered up an explanation for how the shoot came about not long after the photos were published, revealing that it was meant to help normalize breastfeeding.

Rothstein revealed that McAdams was a relatively new mother when the shoot took place, "so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding." Together, the decided they should try to get a photo for the magazine with the pump on.

"Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world, like breathing, and I can't for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of," the magazine founder wrote on Instagram. "I don't even think it needs explaining, but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person's perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that's great."

Rothstein added, "Side note: I did not look anywhere near as fabulous as this when feeding/pumping. And that's ok too."

McAdams' photo began making waves online shortly after it was released. While it appears she and Rothstein were anticipating negative feedback on the photo, the majority of comments pouring in online have been positive. The Doctor Strange star has been hailed as a "true queen" and "ICON," while others joked that they loved the cover photo so much they planned to frame it.

"Anyone else just impressed with how much milk is in those bottles? Rachel McAdams is my new hero," one Twitter user joked.
