Washington State is all about apples and the Prosser FFA recently performed well at the Washington State FFA Apple Judging Career Development Event on 12/7/16 in Wenatchee. It may surprise you to learn that Apple Judging is a skill that takes time to master.

The Prosser FFA learned that Apple judging and grading events are used to instruct individuals to develop a better understanding and appreciation of the various grades and varieties of apples and pears.

The event entails apple grading, identification of varieties and blemishes, tray grading, pesticide safety, entomology and fruit maturity.

Prosser FFA Team 1 won the state championship and consisted of members; Eva Aarstad 2nd place Individual, Annie Green 3rd place individual, Harrison Moore 5th place individual, Erika Rodriguez 6th place individual, and Jennifer Cantu.

Prosser FFATeam 2 placed 6th and consisted of members; Laynee Olmstead 9th place individual, Emanuel Munoz, Kassidy Bush, Victor Mar tinez, and Zayne Smithyman.

Congratulations to the Prosser FFA and good luck in the future to these up and coming farming students.
