A long list of lessons is landing in the lap of this lad. One can only hope he learns from them.

A 12-year-old Prosser boy is learning there are consequences for acting hard. He brought a handgun to school and tucked it in his waistband (dangerous!)

Fortunately, another student, a 13-year-old girl, alerted officers to the boy. When confronted by officers, the boy complied with orders and told them he brought it for "protection." Officers did find the weapon. To make things worse for the boy; the gun was found to have been stolen.

If what he's saying is true; it's incredibly sad. I don't want to speculate, so I won't. I just hope he finds help for A. his behavior, and B. whatever may be making him feel unsafe.

He'll be spending some time in an out-of-school detention facility, the Benton County Juvenile Justice Center. He's got a nice little list of charges including possession of a deadly weapon on campus and possession of a stolen gun.
