Oregon and other out-of-state shoppers will lose their sales tax exemption starting tomorrow in Washington State.

1965 was the year that Washington implemented the sales tax exemption for Oregon residents and now that sales tax exemption is going away.

Washington State hopes to net another 174 million in revenue through 2025.

The silver lining is that out-of-state residents can file for a refund once a year on state sales tax if the total is more than $25 per year. Local taxes won't apply and the refund is allowed once a year.

I'm sure this will affect businesses on the border of Washington and Oregon and it will be interesting to see if this new law gets revised in the future.
