The COVID-19 pandemic has put a huge strain on many people in the Yakima Valley. Many have lost jobs or had hours cut because of restrictions. If you are searching for a job Today the South Central Workforce Council is holding a virtual Resource and Employment Fair to connect you with work in Yakima, Skamania, Kittitas, Klickitat counties. The event will be held online from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. It's free to be a part of the fair. All you need to do is fill out an online registration and then plan to go online sometime between 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15.

Once online you'll be able to speak with employment and training professionals, similar to an in person job fair. You'll be able to go through interviews and talk to possible future employers.

Career counselors from People For People will also be online to help you with a  job search, connect with programs to complete a high school diploma or GED; learn about apprenticeships, skills upgrades and more.
Amy Martinez, CEO of the South Central Workforce Council says “typically people came to WorkSource centers to connect with employment and training programs offered through the Workforce Opportunity and Innovation Act (WIOA). WorkSource offices are still closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Martinez continues “people collecting unemployment benefits can connect with WorkSource, training and community resources through at thi s online event.”
