Yakima Valley College’s 2019-20 Diversity Series this month will host the Black History 101 Mobile Museum’s 5th Element Hip Hop Exhibit on the Yakima Campus. The visit of the mobile museum happens on Wednesday, January 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Hopf Union Building (HUB), Building #9, Activity Area. YVC officials say the 5th Element Hip Hop Exhibit features more than 150 artifacts that document the more than 40-year history of hip-hop culture. A news release says the "exhibit will use artifacts from the trans-Atlantic slave trade, Jim Crow, Civil Rights Movement and the Black Arts Movement to show how hip hop has drawn inspiration from the past to create a distinct cultural contribution that has a global impact on popular culture."
