Here is the mathematical formula to create a Tom Cruise Movie™:

(1 world-ending threat + 3 crazy-looking stunts) x 45 seconds of Tom Cruise Running at Top Speed = Tom Cruise Movie™

That’s it. That’s all you really need. Cruise has honed that formula with laser-like precision in his Mission: Impossible franchise, which has grossed $2.7 billion worldwide. While Cruise waits for Mission: Impossible 6 to get up and running (these are the jokes, guys) he’s trying his hand at something a little different: A reboot of the classic Universal horror film The Mummy. Only this Mummy doesn’t look like the Boris Karloff one from 1932, or even the Brendan Fraser blockbuster from 1999. At least based on the first trailer, it really looks like a Tom Cruise Movie™. So much so that we decided to combine Mission: Impossible and The Mummy into one mashup. The results, as you can see above, are shockingly seamless. Prepare yourself for Mission: Impossible - Mummy Protocol.

For sake of comparison, here’s the actual trailer for the new reboot of The Mummy:

And here’s the official synopsis:

Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension. From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.

The Mummy opens in theaters on June 9, 2017, at which point, I assume, the Impossible Mission Force will activate the mummy protocol.
