Melissa Joan Hart’s ‘Clarissa’ to Explain It All Over Again in Series Revival
Sabrina the Teenage Witch isn't the only Melissa Joan Hart character poised to make her television return: the actress will reportedly reprise her iconic role as Nickelodeon's '90s teen, Clarissa Darling, from Clarissa Explains It All.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, deals are currently in negotiation with Hart and original showrunner Mitchell Kriegman for a modern revival of the show, similar to Disney Channel's Girl Meets World (a spinoff of fellow '90s series Boy Meets World) and Raven's Home, a continuation of That's So Raven.
The project, which would see Hart reprise her role as Carissa, now a mom, is "in early development at Nickelodeon."
Clarissa Explains It All originally ran on Nickelodeon between 1991 and 1994. The series followed the titular character as she broke the fourth wall to address the audience directly about everything from unrequited crushes to her annoying little brother.
In 1995, CBS developed a spinoff series titled Clarissa Now. The spinoff didn't make it to air.
The news of Nickelodeon's planned Clarissa Explains It All revival follows the announcement that Blue's Clues will also be returning to television with a 20-episode new season and a "refreshed signature look."
