The fight against COVID-19 continues in Yakima as health officials see More COVID-19 cases reported. Currently the infection rate is 991 cases per 100,000 over the last 14 days.The rate has been on the rise for the last two weeks.

428 PEOPLE HAVE DIED OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS IN YAKIMA

Health officials say community transmission is still considered high. All total Yakima has seen 37,133 cases with 32,425 fully recovered. 57 people are hospitalized. 455 people have died over the last two years with 431 people who had underlying health conditions.
Masks are now required by both the vaccinated and unvaccinated in indoor settings.
Local health officials urge everyone who is unvaccinated to get the vaccine and to wash hands on a frequent basis.

A NEW TESTING SITE OPENED AT YVC THIS WEEK

A new testing site opened this week. Yakima Health District officials say the new site at Yakima Valley College is a walk-up clinic, where you park and walk up for testing. The site is located at 810 South 14th Avenue. It's in the parking lot on the north side of the college.

Statewide the Associated Press reports "as of Monday morning, the state’s hospitals and health care centers were treating 1,570 COVID-19 patients. Of those, 188 are on ventilators. Eleven days ago, the hospital association had counted 1,240 patients with 152 on ventilators. The Seattle Times reports as of last week, the state counted 550,988 total infections and 6,507 total deaths"
