A man who authorities say injured a Wapato Police Officer during a robbery at a Wapato store late Sunday is now behind bars.

The officer was injured while trying to stop the suspect from fleeing the store

Officials with the Yakima County Sheriff's Office says the officer was injured trying to prevent the suspect from running from the Roadrunner store at 705 W 1st Street while trying to arrest the man. The suspect fled the area. The officer is now recovering from injuries.

Authorities say tips to Crime stoppers helped locate and arrest the suspect

The County Sheriff's Office put the information and a picture of the suspect on Facebook asking for people to identify the suspect and call Crime Stoppers Yakima County. Authorities say lots of people called to help identify the suspect. Deputies found and arrested the man. He's now facing charges of 2nd Degree Robbery and 2nd Degree Assault. He's being held in the Yakima County jail.
