Your basic, average girl is here to save the world in a whole new dimension. The Disney Channel is moving forward on a live-action reboot of iconic kids’ spy show Kim Possible, and is already calling, beeping and trying to reach its new cast.

TVLine confirms that The Disney Channel has begun casting a live-action rendition of the fan-favorite series, which ran for eighty-seven episodes from 2002 to 2007 and spawned two made-for-TV movies in the process. Original series creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley will write the script along with The DUFF scribe Josh Cagan.

The original series followed Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano in the title role of a cheerleader-turned-spy, joined by Boy Meets World star Will Friedle as her sidekick Ron. Additionally, Simpsons star Nancy Cartwright voiced Rob’s naked mole rat sidekick Rufus, along with Futurama voice John DiMaggio as Dr. Drakken, Tahj Mowry as Wade Load and MADtv alum Nicole Sullivan as Kim’s nemesis Shego. Casting is supposedly underway for “all roles.”

No word yet on whether a live-action Kim Possible movie could potentially spawn a live-action series, but stay tuned for the latest on The Disney Channel’s efforts in the meantime.
