Junior League Helping Yakima’s Homeless Youth
Just because you are new to an organization it doesn't mean you can't quickly adopt the values and the good works that have been in place for decades. Case in point - the newest members of Yakima's Junior league.
The Junior League is a non-profit organization of women dedicated to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through effective action and leadership.
A Junior League news release says this past weekend the new member class for the Junior League of Yakima gathered outside along 3rd Street to put together backpacks with hygiene items for the homeless youth. (while maintaining social distancing of course)
Each backpack included: Hair Brush (mini) , First Aid Kit, Socks, Soap, Lotion, Shampoo, Conditioner, Lip Balm, Shaving Kit, Tooth Brush Kit, Hand wipes, Band Aides, Tissues, Hair Ties, Deodorant, Water bottle, Space blanket, Q-tips, Whistle and Mouthwash.
The 120 backpacks were then taken to Dad’s House Church for distribution.
For most of us -a few simple items we all take for granted. For kids on the street - a bag of gold. Well played Junior Leaguers!
