It’s a place so swanky, they had to hide it behind a bank vault. I’m talking about Needle & Thread, a secret hideaway speakeasy bar in Seattle. You’ll have to venture out to the Capitol Hill neighborhood to find this Washington bar that is located inside Tavern Law, which is not an actual law firm. You can't just walk in there and expect to be seated. It's so cool, they have to buzz you in.

I have only been to one other secret speakeasy in Seattle, Knee High Stocking Co. My experience there was so cool. There are no signs that lead to the speakeasy bar and when you get there, you have to tell them the “password” to be admitted inside. There was limited space inside the bar, so there wasn’t much room for a lot of people to pack the place. It’s giving INTIMATE! Needle & Thread speakeasy is much the same way in that you need to know the secret way to get buzzed inside for a drink.

WHAT TO EXPECT INSIDE NEEDLE & THREAD SPEAKEASY BAR

You might see some burlesque-y pics on the Needle & Thread walls. The lighting is rather dark; the vibe is very chill. It is the perfect place in my opinion to plan a small Girls Night or Guys Night out. Needle & Thread is also quite the romantic spot, too, if that’s the feeling you’re going for. I would actually love it if someone took me to a secret hideaway speakeasy bar for a hot date. HINT, HINT!

WHAT KIND OF DRINKS DO THEY SERVE AT NEEDLE & THREAD?

Once you get inside this secret hideaway speakeasy, there is no menu, per se. Bartenders will craft a special cocktail just for you based on what ingredients and flavors you tell them you like from their list of options. The flavors you can choose from are: nutty, sweet, savory, floral, herbal, woody, nutty, dairy, spicy, mineral, sour, or bitter. Once you select that, you have a host of ingredients to choose from. It is a truly unique experience. The bar also serves appetizers (and cookies).

Drinks are on the pricey side (customers have reported drinks cost anywhere from $16 to $26 per drink), so don’t go there expecting cheap drinks!

If you want to try out Needle & Thread, it is strongly suggested to make reservations at least a week in advance. Most people can't get in without them. You can visit Tavern Law and go inside to ask to be put on the waitlist for Needle & Thread. You can also book your reservation here.
