They say "The West Coast is the best coast", and I will be very partial and say that I wholeheartedly agree! I consider Washington, Oregon, and California to be the quintessential Pacific Northwest states that create the lovely West Coast, and obviously, California is the biggest state of the three, in more ways than one.

California has the biggest palm trees in the PNW (neither Oregon nor Washington have any of them, what a shame), as well as the biggest beaches.

I would consider living in California to be a dream, a dream that I’ve had ever since I got a Malibu Barbie in elementary school. I would sit right in front of my bedroom window and make a wish that someday I, too, would be able to drive around California with my best friends and a surfboard in the back seat.

I guess it's not too late for me to make that dream come true once my kiddo graduates from high school!

Despite the champagne wishes and Malibu dreams of my childhood, there are many cities that California residents love to hate. It’s like that with any given state, but it’s interesting to see which ones locals can agree on.

The most hated cities in California (listed below in the photo gallery) have a few things in common. Interestingly enough, the crime rate and huge traffic jams are not one of them, as I would have guessed. It seems the common thread is the lack of better opportunities to flourish.
