15 Burgers in Yakima That Are Almost Too Extraordinary to Eat
Inspired by our friends in New York who created a funky photo gallery of their favorite burgers, I decided to create my own list just for Yakima locals and visitors.
This one is for all of the foodies like me who sometimes find themselves craving a good burger. With all the choices available in Yakima, from fast food joints and dive bar-esque mom-and-pop shops, to upscale restaurants and quick-bite eateries, we've got you covered for burgers that are so cool, you might even call them extraordinary!
Unique and Weird Yakima Burgers on the Menu
You'll find Yakima's most clever burgers at these restaurants.
Miner's
2415 S 1st St
Ranch Taco Burger: The menu doesn't say what comes on it, but the name alone is making my mouth water just from the sounds of it.
Major's
1705 W Lincoln Ave
American Dip Burger (The menu says it comes with a 1/3 lb Patty w/ Swiss Cheese on French Roll served with side of Au Jus.)
WaterFire
4000 Creekside Loop
WaterFire French Dip Burger: I can't say I've ever tried a French Dip burger because sadly, I don't like Au jus.
Cowiche Canyon Kitchen
202 E Yakima Ave
International Harvester Burger: This is my favorite thing to eat on the menu! I love how it comes with crispy fried onion straws and skinny rosemary garlic fries (or a salad as a substitute for the fries).
Famous Burger
401 W Lincoln Ave
Bonsai Burger: Just make sure you don't stop by in July because they will be closed the whole month for vacation. The Famous Bonsai Burger comes with ham, bacon, Swiss cheese, avocado, pineapple, and grilled onions.
Bob's Burgers & Brew
121 N Fair Ave
Smokey Bayou Burger: They had me at "Cajun-seasoned patty with chipotle mayo and Applewood-smoked blue cheese crumbles."
McGuire's Irish Restaurant & Pub
807 W Tieton Dr
Burger Dip Burger: The "Horsey Sauce" that comes on this burger makes it extraordinary.
Stop & Go
2820 Fruitvale Blvd
Student Driver Burger. They will tell you what's on it at the drive-thru!
Bill's Place
206 S 3rd Ave
The Gourmand Burger: Named after the owner, this double-patty burger comes with an extraordinary bourbon bacon jam that's made in the house and a balsamic reduction sauce. Ooh, la la, fancy.
Lariat Bar-B-Q
621 W Yakima Ave
Kemper Burger: There are only two original burger stands left in Yakima and this is one of them. Every burger at the Lariat comes with mayo, red relish, lettuce, onions, pickles, and tomatoes unless you tell them not to.
Purrr
306 E Yakima Ave
Hot Mama Burger: It comes with "crispy fried jalapeno medallions, lime cream cheese, lettuce, tomato and our own buffalo sauce. Served with 'hand punched' rosemary fries."
Main Stop on the Ave
32 N Front St #102
Chief Burger: If you like fried eggs on your burger, this one's the thing to get. It comes with "grilled onion, ham, jalapeño, 2 slices of bacon, cheese, and 1 over-medium egg.
Ron's Tacos & Burgers
W Lincoln Ave and South 16th Ave
Double Bacon Cheeseburger and Ham: This is the other old-school burger stand left in Yakima. They are known for their huge ice cream cones, so why not try a huge burger to match. Might as well! (Note: They don't have a website.)
Second Street Grill
28 N 2nd St
Farmer Burger: Havarti cheese lovers will dig this clever burger that also comes with "prosciutto, bacon, fried egg, lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli on a ciabatta bun."
Yakima Steak Company
221 W Yakima Ave
Chorizo Burger: This burger tastes like Yakima: "Ground chorizo blend, grilled poblano pepper, cotija cheese, red onion, sliced tomato, sriracha mayo, and grilled jalapeno on the side."
