You’re Driving Not Shuttling To Yakima’s Luminaria Next Month
For the first in years you won't be able to ride a shuttle bus to a big event in Yakima next month. Yakima city officials say because of an ongoing driver shortage, Yakima Transit will not provide free shuttle bus service to the Yakima Area Arboretum for the Luminaria event set for December 8 and 9 from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm each night. The event features more than a thousand candles and twinkling lights.
THEY HOPE TO HAVE THE SHUTTLES BACK NEXT YEAR
Just like other cities and other city departments Yakima is looking for drivers but the shortage means they can't do what they've done in the past.
“We unfortunately will not be able to partner with the Arboretum this year because we lack sufficient drivers,” said Yakima Transit Manager Alvie Maxey. “We have appreciated the opportunity to provide free shuttles in past years, and hope to renew this tradition in the future.”
MAYBE YOUR FUTURE IS BEING A TRANSIT DRIVER

With no transit bus shuttle service available for those who want to attend the Luminaria officials say they'll used a timed reservation system for visitors who want to park at the Arboretum during Luminaria.
Visit ticketspice.com for information on the system. It's a free event but donations are accepted.
The Yakima Arboretum is located at 1401 Arboretum Drive in Yakima.
