As the holiday season continues, drivers in Yakima are noticing an uptick in gasoline prices. According to a recent survey conducted by GasBuddy, average gasoline prices in the area have risen by 8.3 cents per gallon in the last week, now averaging $3.71 per gallon across 91 stations in the valley.

YOU'RE STILL PAYING LESS THAN YOU DID A MONTH AGO

While prices in Yakima are up 2.8 cents per gallon compared to a month ago, they remain 16.4 cents per gallon lower than the average prices from the same time last year. In contrast, the national average for diesel also showed a slight increase of 1.1 cents over the past week, currently standing at $3.51 per gallon.

PRICES IN WA REMAIN UNCHANGED FROM LAST WEEK

Statewide, Washington residents are currently facing an average price of $4 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. However, consumers in the Yakima Valley can find more competitive prices if they shop around. The cheapest gas in the region was reported at Wheelers Kountry Korner in Wapato, where a gallon was priced at $3.03 on Sunday. Nearby, Costco in Union Gap offered gas at a rate of $3.10 per gallon.

WILL WE SEE DECREASES THIS HOLIDAY SEASON?

Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, indicates that drivers may see slight decreases in gas prices in the coming weeks. "The weeks ahead should feature slight drops in gas prices in most areas, with over 100,000 stations nationwide now offering a gallon for $2.99 or less," he said. He added that these lower prices are expected to persist through the holiday shopping season, but potential impacts from pending tariffs could alter the landscape, though any effects would not be felt until at least late January if implemented.
