AN EARLY MORNING ATTACK

The incident happened around 3:30 am when officers responded to reports of an assault with a weapon at the residence in the 800 block of Mulder Drive.

According to information the Yakima County Prosecutor's Office, the suspect barged into the home and immediately began attacking a 33-year-old woman, who was sleeping on a couch at the time of the invasion.

THE SUSPECT REPORTEDLY CHOKED AND SHOT THE WOMAN

Police say he grabbed her by the neck, began choking her with his left hand, and pointed a pellet pistol at her head with his right hand.

The suspect then fired three shots—two into her left eye and one at her jaw—before running the scene.

THE WOMAN WAS RUSHED TO A YAKIMA HOSPITAL

Officers found the woman bleeding from her eye and rushed her to Multicare Yakima Memorial Hospital for treatment. She told police she believed she was going to die because she didn't know the weapon was a pellet gun at the time of the shooting.

The suspect is known to authorities and has a lengthy criminal history, including a conviction for manslaughter in 2006 and multiple violations of protection orders. He was also arrested in 2025 for aiming and discharging a firearm.

POLICE ARE HOPING TO MAKE AN ARREST SOON

Police are actively searching for the suspect and have not yet made an arrest. The condition of the victim remains unknown as the investigation continues.
