Yakima Trolley Offers Irish Evening and Family Fun Events

This weekend, the Yakima Valley Trolley offers a pair of special events celebrating Irish culture, history, and community spirit. On Friday and Saturday, visitors have the chance to enjoy festive rides and family-friendly activities that bring Irish hospitality to the rails.

A CHANCE TO HELP THE TROLLEY RAISE FUNDS IN YAKIMA

According to a post on the trolley’s Facebook page, these events are part of a larger effort to raise $8 million needed to repair trolley tracks along 6th Avenue. The repairs will allow the trolley to continue service to Selah.

THE FUN STARTS ON FRIDAY FOR ADULTS

Two packages are available:
Irish Evening Trolley Ride – Friday, March 13.
From 3:00 to 7:30 PM, adults are invited to a relaxed, Irish-themed evening aboard the trolley. The "Shamrocks & Streetcars" Irish Evening features lively Irish music, a scenic ride through Yakima, and "festive touches" that celebrate Irish culture. Attendees can enjoy Irish stout from The Outskirts Brewing Co., along with lighter beers and soft drinks, and fresh Irish soda bread from McGuire’s Irish Restaurant and Pub. Food and drinks will be available for purchase à la carte.

A SPECIAL FAMILY EVENT ON SATURDAY

Family-Friendly Irish Railroad Tea – Saturday, March 14
The next day, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, the trolley hosts a family-oriented "Irish Railroad Tea" celebration.

TEA AND IRISH SODA BREAD

The event offers a blend of storytelling, learning, and fun activities inspired by Irish traditions. Highlights include a railroad tea service with Irish soda bread and Kerrygold butter, Irish Gaelic word lessons, Irish-themed coloring pages for kids, and storytelling celebrating Irish folklore. The scenic trolley ride through Yakima provides a beautiful backdrop for family memories.

Yakima Valley Trolley barn is at 306 West Pine Street in Yakima. Proceeds from these events help support ongoing efforts to preserve the historic trolley and ensure continued service to the community.
