Have a Giant Evergreen? City of Yakima Offers Free Removal for the Holiday Tree
I love trees and I feel heartbroken when they are cut down in my neighborhood, however, if it's for a good cause, I'd be okay with that. Maybe you have a humongous evergreen that is at least 35 to 50 feet tall and every time you look at it you think, "Yeah, I'd really like to chop down this tree!"
Randy Beehler, the Communications & Public Affairs Director for the City of Yakima, says that you have space around your evergreen tree that could fit a "25-foot by 45-foot crane and nearby space for a 50-foot trailer", then it's a prime candidate for this year's downtown Christmas tree.
How to Nominate Your Tree
If you think you have a tree in your yard that would be perfect for this year's downtown display, call Cally at (509) 575-6040 and she'll hook you up with the next steps.
After a nomination is received, a representative from the Downtown Association will contact the tree owner to discuss a suitable time to assess the tree and its accessibility. - City of Yakima
