It's dry in the Yakima valley and county officials are taking action to prevent a wildfire.
The Yakima County Board of Commissioners has approved a new ordinance establishing a mandatory outdoor burn ban in unincorporated areas of the county, effective June 1.

IT'S A BAN THAT WILL HAPPEN EVERY YEAR

The ban will remain in effect annually until August 31, aiming to enhance public safety and minimize wildfire risks during peak fire season.
The commissioners' decision follows months of collaborative planning among county officials and fire safety agencies.
