18 Inches of New Snow at White Pass: Skiers Anxious for Season Start
Get those skis and boards ready and make sure you get those snow tires on your vehicle because the ski and ride season is close to kicking off an early season.
SO IS THERE A DATE SET FOR AN EARLY OPENING?
According to White Pass Ski area no official date has been set at the White Pass Ski area yet since the base snow depth is listed as "variable." However resort officials say they will consider opening when base snow depth is anywhere from 24 to 32 inches.
IT'S SNOWING AND BLOWING IN THE WA CASCADES
Big storms hit the Cascade passes over the weekend and more snow is in the forecast through Wednesday. Over the last 36-hours the White Pass Ski area has seen a total of 18-inches. There's no word on whether or not the resort will consider an early opening but with this much snow and more in the forecast the possibility is pretty good.
IT'S BEEN A WHILE SINCE WE SAW AN EARLY OPENING
The last time the area saw an early opening near Thanksgiving was back in 2017. No doubt opening near or the day after Thanksgiving would allow White Pass and other resorts in the state to take advantage of the earlier than usual opening during a time when a lot of people are on vacation and may be visiting Washington State for the holiday. So until we hear of an opening date it's time to get the skis and boards ready and time to prepare your vehicle for the upcoming winter months of snow driving.
