If Somebody Asks How They Can Support, Tell ‘Em to Join the NAACP
I have had quite a few white people reaching out to me asking how they can help support the local Black community. I have referred them to join the local chapter of the NAACP.
The Yakima County NAACP needs your support. I just renewed my membership in this nonprofit that is determined to live up to the mission of pressing our way to justice and equality for all. You can sign up online. Go to naacp.org/become-a-member/.
Search for your area code and then select the closest chapter near you so that they will get credit for you. After you pay for the annual membership, you will receive an email receipt. Shortly, you will be getting your own NAACP membership card in the mail.
Adult membership is $30. I don't remember the Youth membership cost. The most important thing to do if you are signing up for the Yakima At-Large or local branch chapter is to select Branch #1140 or #1140-B.
Once you get the receipt, please forward YOUR receipt to Adrianneg75@yahoo.com.
When there is no coronavirus lockdown, General Membership meetings will resume on the 3rd Tuesday of each month in the Beauchamp Center MLK Room at 5:30 pm. Call the NAACP office for more information at 575-6114.
