We just might've saved the best for last.

Downtown Summer Nights closes out the 2016 season Thursday evening on North Front Street with Redwood Son and Yakima homeboy Zach Hinson. It'll be a night of country, Americana and real-life musical storytelling.

Yeah -- wear your boots, if you want.

Portland-based Redwood Son, who adds a contemporary kick to straight-from-the-heart songs about everyday struggles and successes, starts things off at 6 p.m. Hinson picks up it from there.

The West Valley native -- always a crowd favorite -- is known for his easygoing vocals, classic country guitar licks and songs inspired by his love of fishing, hunting and camping in the Northwest outdoors.

It'll be a great way to bring the 2016 Downtown Summer Nights season home.

As usual, the music is free, and vendors will pack in plenty of food, beverages, goods and services.

Event sponsor Stewart Subaru helps make it all happen, along with the city of Yakima, Legends Casino (which sponsors the stage), the Memorial Foundation (which provides a cooling station) and US Cellular (which supplies a cellphone charging station).

Yakima Neighborhood Health provides a free space with hands-on activities just for kids -- so bring the youngsters along.

The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. with 92.9 The Bull kicking things off. Looks like it'll be a little bright early on, so you might want to think about a hat like Zach's, too ...
