Habitat for Humanity Plans a Dinner and Auction in May

A few months back in 2021, I signed up for a Habitat for Humanity class that was teaching women how to build tables and benches. The cost of the class was about $25 and they provided all of the materials needed for the quick building project. We walked in the portable office and they gave each of us attendees a work apron donated by Lowe's Home Improvement. We were ushered into the workshop housed beside the Habitat for Humanity used goods store. Once we got inside, we were greeted by staff and asked to select the project we wanted to make: a table or a small bench.

I have always wanted to make a table but I decided to opt for the bench instead. On the work table in front of us lay a few cans of paint varnish in various shades and some work gloves. Our teachers helped each of us (there were about 6 of us ladies in attendance) create our projects. It was so much fun and I left the workshop feeling so proud of myself and wondering why I never had wanted to take "shop" class in high school!

I am excited to announce that Habitat for Humanity is hosting a dinner and benefit auction on Thursday, May 5th, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the FR Barn in Selah (3660 Selah Loop Road).
