McNulty has been diagnosed with Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) syndrome which, according to the Mayo Clinic, "is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves."

The charity account's organizer, Sean's sister, Shelley, explained that this past March 7, "Sean was admitted to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center for what seemed to be a minor sickness, but resulted in something far worse. With each passing day, Sean’s health deteriorated and his body began failing him. On March 14th, he was diagnosed with acute renal failure. His kidneys stopped functioning and doctors began dialysis in hopes of reviving them. The next day Sean was rushed to the ICU for puzzling symptoms – extremely high blood pressure, extreme headaches and pain, difficulty breathing, and numbing of his entire face, hands and feet."

The fundraiser's goal is $250,000 and after just three days, the page has already generated more than $21,000.
