Yakima Health District, Yakima Neighborhood Health Services, and Columbia Safety are holding a flu and COVID-19 vaccine clinic Wednesday from 3:30 pm-6:00 pm at the school at 9800 Zier Road. The clinic is offering flu vaccines to children ages 0-18 and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for people 5- years-old and older. Health officials say flu vaccines will also be available for adults but you'll need to bring your medical insurance card. For adults who do not have medical insurance, a flu vaccine will cost $20.
Everyone 6-years-old or older are recommended for a flu shot
Yakima Health District officials say National Influenza Vaccination Week is a call to everyone 6 months and older to get their annual flu vaccine. Obviously flu and COVID-19 continue to be a big concern in Yakima and throughout the state. They say the flu vaccine protects individuals against the flu to prevent flu illness and potentially serious complications and the COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death due to COVID-19.
Along with vaccination, public health recommendations are crucial to keep the community safe, such as wearing a mask, social distancing, washing hands, and getting tested. As a reminder, the flu and COVID-19 vaccine can be administered at the same time.
