Firefighters spent a hot dry weekend battling three large fires while trying to protect homes and property. The largest fire was the Pipeline Fire burning 7 miles north of Selah. The fire is now 85% contained at 6,515 acres. It was started by a lightning strike early last week.

The Left Hand Fire burning near Cliffdell at last report was at 2,500 acres. The fire is now at 8% containment.

Evacuations notices remain in place. Level 3 “Go now” for 26 homes along Rock Creek Road and Big Rock Road are in place Monday. Level 2 “set” order notices remain in place for more than 250 homes on State Route 410.

All evacuation notices for the Pipeline Fire were lifted on Sunday. Both of the fires were started by lightning last week.

The Kusshi Creek Fire on the Yakima Nation Reservation is now almost 1,000 acres with 30 percent containment.
