I have always enjoyed seeing the progress of the Yakima and Kittitas Enterprise Challenge over the past eleven years. Last year's winner, 509 Junk Bros. was one of my personal favorites. For a long time, I have often wished that Yakima had a 1-800-JUNK store so that I could hire someone to haul away my old furniture and assorted other junk that I've accumulated here in Yakima since I moved here in 2002.

WHAT DO THE ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE WINNERS RECEIVE?

The grand prize for winning the competition included:

$2,500 for third place

$5,000 for second place

$10,000 for first place

WHAT DID THE ENTERPRISE CHALLENGE CONTESTANTS HAVE TO DO TO WIN?

Each of the competitors that entered the Shark Tank (as I love to refer to the Enterprise Challenge) had to draft and develop their own business plans and then go through a series of weekly trainings and mentoring from local business leaders for three months. The event is sponsored by the Yakima County Development Association and the Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce.

KIMA TV reports that the 2023 competition is already off and running and I look forward to seeing who will enter the competition and ultimately take home the champion title for the Enterprise Challenge.
