Dave Chappelle Believes Kanye West Was Having a Manic Episode During Trump Meeting
Dave Chappelle and Kanye West have been friends for some time—despite their differing political affiliations. During a recent show in Dublin, a fan asked the veteran comedian what his thoughts were on Kanye's most recent meeting with President Trump last week (Oct. 11), to which Dave credits as a result of the rapper's battle with bipolar disorder.
"Honestly, all jokes aside, I felt like my friend is bipolar, and I felt like he was having a manic episode on television," Chappelle said in leaked audio from the show, obtained by Too Fab. He prefaced the statement by explaining how well he knows 'Ye.
"I gotta state my bias: I fuck with Kanye, he's like, literally a friend of mine. I had a lot of thoughts and feelings, and as you can imagine I got asked a lot about what happened in the Oval Office," Chappelle said. Many artists such as 50 Cent and T.I. were less polite about their opinion of Kanye meeting with Trump.
Dave concluded by saying that he still has faith in the rapper. "I don't think [Kanye] forgot us. I trust him as a person of intent, I just think that this nigga is betting on the wrong horse. Lucky for me, I know him well enough to not take political advice from him. I'm keeping my Yeezys and I'm still buying the records, but when he's on CNN, nigga, I'm turning the channel."
Needless to say, Kanye has been making a lot of headlines for his unwavering support of President Donald Trump. During 'Ye's meeting with the president last week, Kanye actually told Trump that he believes he was misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder. He also referred to slavery as an "invisible wall."
No word yet on whether Kanye is aware of his friend Dave Chappelle's comments, but we'll be on the lookout. Listen to audio of Dave Chappelle below.
