Fun fact: As best I can tell, Cats is the second-most disliked trailer of 2019 on YouTube.

The movie’s first trailer got an astonishing 303,000 downvotes (and counting) compared with just 111,000 thumbs up out of its 11.1 million viewers to date. Even movies with easily ruffled fanbases, like Star Wars, don’t come close to those numbers. By comparison, some 32 million people have watched the first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but only 81,000 gave it a thumbs down. (And over half a million gave it a thumbs up.) Plus, in the case of Cats doesn’t seem like there’s an organized campaign of trolls from some terrifying corner of the dark web who are out to destroy this movie because it has women (or, uh, female cats) in it. A lot of people just thought the trailer was bonkers.

The only 2019 trailer I could find that tops Cats’ reception on YouTube was the trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog, with roughly 712,000 downvotes — and the title character of that movie was deemed so horrific that the entire production was delayed so they could totally redesign him. Anyway: Looking good for the Cats!

Just ask the cast, who in this new behind the scenes featurette are positively caterwauling about playing human-feline creatures in the adaptation of the famous Broadway musical. Watch them all talk about the fun of playing cats below:

Here is the movie’s official synopsis:

Cats stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and introduces Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward in her feature film debut. Featuring Lloyd Webber’s iconic music and a world-class cast of dancers under the guidance of Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In the Heights), the film reimagines the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from classical ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street dance to tap.

Cats opens in theaters on December 20.
