Busta Rhymes, MC Lyte, Questlove and Black Thought provided an energetic tribute last night to LL Cool J, who became the first hip-hop artist honored by the Kennedy Center.

The star-studded ceremony celebrated LL's accomplishments as both a rapper and an actor, acknowledging his impact on pop culture and GOAT status. Busta kicked off the performance tribute, with a hype rendition of "Mama Said Knock You Out." While the crowd looked a little old and confused throughout the tribute, the energy remained high.

MC Lyte was up next to perform LL's classic, "I'm Bad," while Black Thought, who recently contended he's actually the originator of mumble rap, followed up Lyte with "It Gets No Rougher." DMC closed the tribute set out with "Rock The Bells."

The set was introduced by LL's longtime friend Queen Latifah, with Questlove also offering his take on why LL is such a monumental figure in pop culture.
