DMX Posts $500,000 Bail Following Arrest: ‘My Life Is In God’s Hands’ [VIDEO]

DMX has been released from jail after posting $500,000. The Ruff Ryders rapper was arrested on Thursday (July 13) following his indictment on tax evasion charges.

The U.S. Attorney General’s Office claims DMX was involved in multi-year scheme to hide millions of dollars of income from the IRS and to avoid paying $1.7 million in taxes from 2002 to 2005. He was charged with mutliple counts of tax evasion, including “one count of corruptly endeavoring to obstruct and impede the due administration of Internal Revenue Laws, one count of evasion of payment of income taxes, six counts of evasion of assessment of income tax liability, and six counts of failure to file a U.S. individual income tax return.

On Friday (July 15), X pled not guilty to 14 counts of tax evasion. He has been slapped with travel restrictions that will require him to stay in the New York and comply to strict drug testing. He also can’t have any firearms while out on bail.

After the hearing, DMX was escorted out of the courthouse by his attorney and met with the media. He didn’t talk much about the case, but when asked if he had a message for his fans, he replied, “Thank you for all of your support.”

When asked about the indictment and the ramifications, DMX answered, “My life is in God’s hands.”

If found guilty on the 14 counts of tax evasion, DMX could face up to 44 years in prison.

Taxes aside, DMX and his fellow Ruff Ryders crew the LOX are set to headline the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival tonight (July 15).
