Yakima Uncorked was all we had hoped for Saturday (June 24). It was a fantastic-good time. Hundreds and hundreds of people showed up for what could be the biggest party of the year. Food, beer and wine vendors were so busy it was hard to keep up. But by the looks of everyone's faces, they did it.
Living in a desert setting, it's easy to forget there is such deep forest beauty just 20 minutes from us. But State Rout 410 between Naches and Whistlin' Jack Lodge is absolutely breathtaking. It truly is Mother Nature's gift to us. There are so many sights to see. I remember the first time I drove toward Chinook Pass I passed by a camping resort. I saw a bear chasing a guy up a tree.
Downtown Summer Nights was, naturally, a hit this week (June 22). What a blast! We had so many people there it was incredible! And every direction I turned, there was someone with a Seahawks jersey, T-shirt or even shoes. Seahawk fans are everywhere, even in the middle of the summer at Downtown Summer Nights.
But when someone paints a $45,000 truck with everything Seahawks-related, it takes pride to a whole new level.
Yakima's Relay for Life is this Saturday at West Valley High School -- and what an amazing cause. The fight for cancer is no joke. You don't have to sign up early. You can go on Saturday and join in on the fight for cancer and celebrate the survivors who are already beating it.
I was coming back through North Bend on Interstate 90 after a fun road trip last weekend, when I had to stop for a quick breather. I am so glad I did. A train passed right by as I was sitting there, and I had the perfect view!
My daughter and I took a very fun road trip this weekend. We headed to Omak -- via Lake Chelan -- to stay at 12 Tribes Resort Casino and to see two bands that I had on my bucket list who were playing at the Deep Water Amphitheater in Manson. I have seen so many concerts in my time, but never Snap! or the Jets. So excited. So, off we went into the wild, wonderful state of Washington.
I remember while I was growing up, we lived out in the boondocks. Seriously, we lived 16 miles in the middle of nowhere. When I was really young, I thought it was pretty cool. Then when I got older, not so much. However, the wildlife was awesome. I would see coyotes, wolves, deer and antelope all the time. My niece lives in Wyoming. She sent me the photo of the deer just hanging out on her sidewalk.
I as driving home pretty late Thursday night after an amazing Downtown Summer Nights. I stopped by the AM/PM (since it is the only thing open that late) to get some Cheetos. I went in the parking lot right by Joel's Tires and I saw this wheelchair.
