Average gasoline prices in Yakima have risen 12.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $4.40 per gallon

The body is that of a person reported missing in August.

Yakima County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 1500 block of Bus Road at about 8:00 am Tuesday where they found the man dead on the side of the road.

Many people walk or ride bikes instead of driving in the Yakima valley.

The Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice says the body is that of 17-year-old Samantha Kalinchuk of Spokane.

Detectives say the body was found outside a home in the 600 block of Farm Lane at about 3:30 pm Sunday.

Tuesday was election day in the Mabton, Selah and HIghland School Districts

The Yakima County Auditors Office has sent out 17,000 ballots for the Tuesday special election. Voters in Mabton, Highland and Selah are being urged to fill out ballots and return them to the auditors office by 8:00 pm Tuesday.
