Looking for healthcare coverage? The annual open enrollment period for Washingtonians in 2022 started on November 1.

More than 3,000 people have already signed up in Yakima County

Officials from Washington Health Benefit Exchange say more than 3,000 people in Yakima County have already secured health coverage for 2022 through Washington Healthplanfinder, the state’s online insurance marketplace. Officials say recent changes to federal law, including the American Rescue Plan Act, have increased savings available to Washington Healthplanfinder customers.

Lots of ways to save money through Healthplanfinder

Right now about 8 out of every ten people in Yakima receive federal assistance which lowers their premiums by an average of $370 per month. Healthplanfider officials say 79% of current Yakima County customers have a lower cost option available in 2022. If you shop and compare you could save an additional $480 per year.
You have lots of plan options. In fact there are currently 54 plans from seven carriers are available in Yakima County. The Exchange encourages all existing customers and those who are without health care coverage to visit www.wahealthplanfinder.org to compare and find the best plan for them by Dec. 15 for coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2022.

Many of your fellow friends and neighbors don't have health insurance

Many Americans do not have health insurance. According to the 2018 Census Bureau Health Insurance highlights summary report;
"In 2018, 8.5 percent of people, or 27.5 million, did not have health insurance at any point during the year. The uninsured rate and number of uninsured increased from 2017 (7.9 percent or 25.6 million).
