TikTok: so are we losing it or what? When I first heard the news that Congress plans to ban the app, I have to admit, I was completely livid.

Why Is TikTok Being Banned in the U.S.?

Some government officials are claiming that there are some bad guys who live in China that are spying on all of us through the app. Well, if they are spying on me, then they must be very bored. All I look at are recipes, people making quilt blocks, and funny videos that my friends share with me in the group chat.

When Is TikTok Supposed to Shut Down?

Congress has given the parent company of TikTok (ByteDance) until January 19th to sell it off to another company before they officially call the app banned from being available in app stores.

TikTok is not budging, so they said we can expect the ban to happen.

That will mean popular TikTokkers who are orignally from Washington State like Vinny Hacker, Freddie Liu, Miles Despair, Veondre Mitchell, and Jessica Kaylee will lose their millions of followers.

Oregon TikTok stars like Noah Miller and Jesse Underhill would see their millions of followers disappear, too.

Several countries have already banned TikTok for their government employees' cell phones, including many European countries, New Zealand and Australia, Taiwan, and the United States. The ones who have banned TikTok completely for all of their residents so far include Afghanistan, India, Iran, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, Syria, and Uzbekistan, according to BrilliantMaps.com.

This TikTok video from Freddie Liu has been viewed over 2.6 million times! Freddie is originally from Seattle, and he has over 1.7 million followers.
